In short, 310S stainless steel is generally considered superior to 310 stainless steel due to its lower carbon content. The lower carbon content in 310S provides improved resistance to sensitization during welding or high-temperature operations. As a result, 310S is preferred for high-temperature applications. However, both grades can be suitable for applications that don’t involve high temperatures or the risk of sensitization.
